Phase 3 Advisory Services Adds Staff To Buffalo Grove Firm

Phase 3 Advisory Services, a Buffalo Grove Firm that has been successfully helping clients for more than 30 years, has added Nancy Fehrenbach to the firm.

Fehrenback, Certified Financial Analyst and candidate for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, returned to the workforce after pausing to raise her children. She is a Financial Planning Analyst working with Bever and Uren on financial plan development.

Phase 3 Advisory Services was founded in 1984 by President John Bever, CFP®.

“We want people working for us that really practice their life purpose,” Bever impassioned.

The impetus for founding Phase 3 Advisory Services was an experience Bever had in a firm in which he worked.

“I saw what was happening in the industry. The firm I was dealing with was not dealing with the clients ethically,” Bever said. “Everybody that starts a business says they want an ethical business.”

For Bever, that means knowing that his clients are managing not only money, but they also are wanting to leave a lasting legacy.

“It’s easy to get tied up in the here and now,” Bever expressed. “We also come at this from a faith perspective; this is just money, we can’t take it with us.”

To that end, the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals on staff at Phase 3 have great stories about clients who lit up when they realized the firm would help them to prioritize things like charitable giving.

Though Fehrenbach has only been with the firm for about six months, she has already seen this in action. This particular client was not interested in more travel or larger purchases. Instead, she wanted to donate more to her favorite charity and the firm helped her to do so.

It is these kinds of interactions that Fehrenbach enjoys most about her job.

"The most enjoyable part is witnessing the planners working with a client," Fehrenbach said excitedly. “It brings it all to life; it’s not dry numbers anymore.”

Phase 3 Financial Planners are rounded out by Jim Uren, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He studied counseling and psychology, but 18 years ago shifted his perspective. Bever was Uren’s financial planner and Uren answered the call to shift his own career and began working for the firm.

Uren said his educational background naturally lends itself to working in a firm like Phase 3, where the considered financial realities and goals of clients are not just in the here and now. Bever says the firm employs a Steven Covey quote and ‘begins with the end in mind.’

Clients of Phase 3 Advisory Services begin their relationship with the firm at an initial meeting in which the planners get to know the client, his or her financial goals and his or her dreams. They then work with that client to create a life of lasting significance.

One of Bever’s favorite client stories is of a client whose dream was to practice Chinese medicine. Phase 3 Advisory Services helped that client be financially able to complete the schooling needed for his dream. Today he owns his own practice and it is his full-time job.
