Shoppe the Mill at 37 W. Slade Street in downtown Palatine opened their doors in May of 2019, with a goal to provide unique and functional home goods and decor – inspired by owner Tahnee Panayi’s passion for interiors. Panayi is a longtime Palatine resident and wants to ensure that whatever a customers’ style or budget, Shoppe the Mill offers a range of creative selections that oftentimes can serve multiple purposes.

Panayi is proud she opened her first business in the community she has been a part of for most of her life. She recognizes the community support that helped her business to grow by showcasing versatile collections from local home décor artists. The store will additionally be featuring pop ups of a handful of locally owned businesses on select Saturdays starting November 7 through December 5, 2020.

“Each of these businesses are women-owned, and I am thrilled to have them join us at ‘The Mill’,” Panayi said. “I feel so fortunate to collaborate with them, and to carry their unique collections in my store.”

Panayi says she founded the business to help inspire people to create beautiful and functional spaces in their homes. With the increased numbers of people working from home and spending more time there due to the pandemic, adding new home goods and décor are at top of mind for many homeowners. Over the last several months, this has generated growing interest in Shoppe the Mill and allowed Panayi to continuing growing her passion for home décor into a flourishing business.

“When I started Shoppe the Mill, I was looking to bring in more unique pieces to my home and wanted to provide a place for other people to find those things, too,” Panayi said. “Our space in downtown Palatine has been one of growth, creativity, challenges and invaluable experiences.”
