Social Entrepreneurship through Dance
Youth social entrepreneurs discover the impact they can make through dance.
Twins Sanjaya and Sahitya Maheshwaran are talented dancers who found a channel for expression of gift and used it abundantly to raise funds. They joined the team of volunteers at Chess Without Borders when they were 7 years old but soon became enchanted by the strong voice they can have as leaders in the special world of social entrepreneurs. After the death of one of their mentors, Margo Clark, they founded a dance company that performs at various events such as nursing homes and raises funds at social gatherings. The twins are able to bring awareness to wide ranging humanitarian issues. Being part of a team at Chess Without Borders allows them to play a bigger role raising funds for many causes such as tornado victims in Southern IL, preventing child trafficking and other needs. The team has won many awards for their work and raised $180,000 for local and global causes.
