Woman Fatally Struck By Freight Train In Barrington
The accident was causing major delays along Metra's northwest line on Thursday morning.
BARRINGTON, IL -- A 49-year-old woman from the northwest suburbs is dead after being struck by a Canadian National freight train in Barrington, village officials said. The incident occurred at 2:38 a.m. on Thursday at the Route 14 train crossing, according to a Facebook post from the village of Barrington. The accident is causing major delays along the Metra northwest line Thursday morning.
Delays of up to two hours were being reported earlier in the morning along the Northwest line. For updates on train schedules, visit the Metra website.
