Autumn Leaf Collection Begins In Batavia

See when the leaf collection dates are for your address.

BATAVIA, IL — Now that fall has begun and Halloween is right around the corner, Batavia residents can start gathering their leaves and other brush for collection. Leaf pickup will begin on Oct. 22 for residents on the east side of the Fox River and Oct 29 on the west side of the river.

To get leaves picked up, residents must first be set up to pay a monthly leaf and brush collection fee to the city. Then, residents are asked to rake their leaves into a pile on their parkway by 6 a.m. on Mondays of collection week. If you miss the cutoff time and your leaves are not picked up, they may not be gathered until the next pickup date, officials say.

Collection weeks for neighborhoods east of the Fox River are Oct. 22, Nov. 5, and Nov. 19. On the west side of the Fox River, pickup dates will be Oct. 29, Nov. 12, and Nov. 26.

City officials ask residents to pay attention to the following guidelines when preparing their leaf collections:

  • Rake leaves no farther than 6 feet from curb on the home's parkway
  • Keep brush in a separate pile
  • Keep leaves and brush clear of obstacles
  • Avoid raking leaves and brush into the street

Residents can also get brown yard waste bags to dispose of their leaves and lawn debris. These Kraft bags do not require a sticker and are picked up with weekly trash collections from Dec. 1 through Dec. 31.
