Bar Brawl In Batavia Prompts Cease-And-Desist Notice: Report
Bulldog's Cellar Bar & Grill was hit with a cease-and-desist notice for violating the state's coronavirus restrictions, a report states.
BATAVIA, IL — A large fight last month at a bar in Batavia led police to issue a cease-and-desist notice, with the bar violating a statewide indoor service ban due to rising coronavirus cases, the according to a report by the Kane County Chronicle.
Batavia police were called around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 18 to Bulldog’s Cellar Bar & Grill for a fight involving 15-20 people, the Chronicle reports, citing police records obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

A bartender told police that the large fight broke out less than a minute after a group of about 10 people walked into the bar, the report states. Several people thought to be involved in the fight left after paying their tabs and refusing to talk to police, the report states.
By Nov. 18, a ban on indoor service at Kane County bars and restaurants had been in effect for nearly a month, leading Batavia police to issue a cease-and-desist notice to Bulldog’s, the Chronicle reports.

The notice warns the bar could lose its state-issued licenses or be ordered to close if it continues to violate the now-statewide ban on indoor service, according to the report.
Batavia police also filed an incident report about the fight with the state’s Liquor Commission, the report states.
