Batavia Boardwalk Debuts Ten New Shops

Shoppers will find an array of eclectic new shops when the Batavia Boardwalk opens for its second season on May 28.

BATAVIA, IL-Downtown Batavia’s Boardwalk Shops are getting a new round of tenants this year, keeping the ever-changing flow of products fresh.

This summer marks the second season of the city’s boardwalk-style shopping destination. Tiny house-styled shops feature yearly rotating tenants, making for an exciting shopping and browsing experience.

From vegan treats, to wood-turned bowls, handmade handbags and up-cycled treasures, the mix of shops is eclectic this season.

The Boardwalk Shops were designed to help house and help small business, and create a place where shoppers might find their favorite, new local products.

The shops serve as a type of "business incubator," allowing owners to test the feasibility of their plans before signing a long-term lease or sinking their roots in Batavia.

“After the amazingly successful and supportive season that our Boardwalk Shops experienced last year, this year’s group is guaranteed to see great success,” said Beth Walker, Batavia MainStreet Executive Director. “We are so excited to kick off the shopping season on the Boardwalk and hope to see everyone dedicated to the shop local lifestyle down on the Boardwalk.”

The Batavia Boardwalk Shops season begins on Friday, May 28 and runs through Sunday, December 19. All shops will be open on Fridays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sundays 12 p.m.-4 p.m.

The Batavia Boardwalk Shops will have extended hours monthly till 8 p.m. during the Second Fridays in Downtown Batavia promotions.

The shops are located at 114 East Wilson Street across from Oak & Swine, Wilson Street Tavern, and Six + Cypress.

  • New Moon Vegan: Hand-crafted vegan baked goods and provisions.
  • Pretty Pages: Home décor and gifts from up-cycled book pages and sheet music with other carefully curated literary-inspired gifts.
  • Farmdog Flowers: Micro flower farm specializing in sustainably grown, farm-fresh cut flowers, and bespoke floral design services.
  • Wanderin’ Barefoot Farm: Organic, free range and GMO-free locally grown farm stand items, along with other farm produced goods.
  • Bumblebee Cottage Apothecary: Plant-based body care and wellness products.
  • MoJo Handbags ET.Cetera: Handmade handbags and accessories including masks and pet supplies.
  • CatTalpa Manor: Rare and unusual houseplants mixed with original artwork and quirky vintage wares.
  • EV Creative: A professional graphic design company bringing handmade and locally designed greeting cards, stationary, prints and other design products for your home and lifestyle.
  • Black Angel Designs: Handcrafted stone coasters and wood signs as well as T-shirts, home goods, and other items with an urban flair.
  • Fox Valley Galleria of Wood: A collection of Fox Valley-based woodturners, selling handmade wares.
