March 17, 2021

BPS101 is approaching the one-year anniversary of the transition to remote learning on March 18, 2020. We will be forever grateful to each and every one of our staff members, families, and students for the part that each played in this chapter in our school history. School districts across Illinois have recently been asked to return students to in-person learning as they are able. The Restore Leadership Team has been meeting to discuss the impact of new IDPH guidance on a mode change for in-person learners, and we are pleased to announce that a decision was made today to return to in-person learning every day beginning on April 6th. The new IDPH guidance allows for social distancing at three feet in classrooms which eliminates the need for a hybrid, Crimson/Gold schedule. Families do not need to opt into these changes: remote families will remain remote and in-person families will remain in person.   There will not be any changes to daily schedules, lunches, or bus routes. The mode change does not impact full remote families, including those in the BVA.  We have updated the FAQ section on the Restore page. Please refer to it for additional information. The kindergarteners and first graders are pros at this-they have already been attending school in-person every day. Starting April 6, second through fifth-grade in-person students will be reporting to school each day instead of every other day. The school day schedule will not change, nor will the bus schedules--they just be a few extra minutes each way to drop off and pick up more students. These changes will not impact students in the Batavia Virtual Academy (BVA) or those currently attending a program every day. At the middle school and high school level, students will enter one of two modes starting April 6th. All of the fully remote students will remain remote, and the Crimson and Gold students will now become everyday students. The school day schedule will not change and buses will continue to run on their normal routes. The every other day schedule has been eliminated. Families that chose in-person can contact the school administration and request a switch to full remote for the remainder of the school year. Teachers will still be teaching to both in-person and full remote students. Lunches will be available for students. BHS will continue the grab-and-go service and RMS students will be seated 6 ft apart for lunches.  Please continue to practice safe mitigation measures outside of school. If you choose to travel, please take extra precautions. COVID is still a risk and one that needs to be taken seriously. If you are not feeling well, please stay home. You will need to continue to complete the self-screener for your students. Continue to practice safe distancing outside of school. Mask-wearing is still essential, and now we are reminding you to make sure your masks are clean and fit well. To make all of this work--we need you. We have multiple jobs posted for lunchroom aides and paraprofessionals. More information can be found HERE . Please stay tuned for updates as we navigate through the switch in learning mode. Your continued patience is appreciated.
