Batavia Fireworks Scheduled For July 4
This year will mark the the 70th time the city has set off its annual Fourth of July display.
BATAVIA, IL—The Batavia sky will light up once again this Fourth of July and booms and bangs will echo across the city.
Mayor Jeff Schielke announced that the show will go on this year in its usual “great and grand fashion”.
After having to cancel what would have been the city’s 70th fireworks display last year because of COVID-19 concerns, Schielke said he’s excited to get back to the business of celebration and fun.

As usual, the fireworks display will be funded by the community.
“We take great pride in the fact that we’ve always been able to fund the show using private donations,” he said. “We’ve never used tax dollars to buy fireworks (in 70 years).”
Donations are still needed and are being sought.
The show will start around 9:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July, and should last about 30 minutes. Sky gazers can meet at Engstrom Park for music and fun before the show.
