Batavia Homecoming Parade To Cause 'Significant' Traffic Delays
The road closures and detours are expected to hit the downtown area right around rush hour.

BATAVIA, IL — The upcoming Batavia homecoming parade is set to cause temporary road closures that city officials say will result in "significant delays" right around rush hour. The homecoming parade, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m., will weave its way through downtown Batavia, shutting down the Wilson Street Bridge and parts of Route 31.
According to a press release, the following roads will be impacted by the Batavia Homecoming Parade:
- Wilson Street Bridge closed to eastbound and westbound traffic at 4:40 p.m.
- Route 31/Batavia Avenue closed between McKee and Main Streets at 5:15 p.m.
The parade will set up between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of Spring and N. River Streets. Marchers will step off at 5 p.m. and head down N. River street toward Wilson before turning onto Wilson and coming to a close at Batavia High School.

Detours for the parade are as follows:
- Traffic heading westbound from E. Wilson Street and Route 25 will be rerouted to Fabyan Parkway
- Commuters heading from downtown Batavia to Randall Road will be detoured to to McKee Street
- Eastbound traffic on W. Wilson should head north on Western to McKee
The road closures and detours are expected to end around 6:15 p.m.
