Batavia Man Fell Asleep With Gun At Gas Station: Police

Batavia police allege they found a man sleeping in his car with a gun in plain sight, according to a report.

BATAVIA, IL — A Batavia man is facing more than half a dozen felony charges after police alleged they found him sleeping in his car with a handgun in plain sight, according to a report by the Kane County Chronicle.

Dajuan Myers Jr., 24, was charged last month after Batavia police said he was sleeping with a Glock 31 in a parking lot at the Speedway gas station, located at 1495 E. Wilson St., the report states. Police allege the gun was clearly visible to officers who tried to wake him up after receiving a call about a man sleeping in the lot.

Myers was also charged last month with two counts of possessing of a controlled substance, the report states. He was released on bond and is due to next appear in court Sept. 28.
