Batavia Mayor Seeks to Extend his 35 Years in Office
Mayor Schielke has run unopposed for the last seven years, but next April will be different

Mayor Jeff Schielke, who has been in office since 1981, is running for another term, according to the Daily Herald. The mayor said he has begun collecting nominating petitions.
"There's a lot of positive energy and synergy around town, and I'm happy to be part of it," Schielke told the Daily Herald. The lifelong Batavia resident has only been opposed for mayor twice in the last ten years.
The mayor will face a much younger opponent in next April's election.
