Batavia Now Offers Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Residents will be able to easily dispose of paint, household chemicals, and other hazardous waste.

BATAVIA, IL --- Batavia has partnered with Kane County to offer household hazardous waste collection for residents. The program is funded by Batavia's refuse company, so there residents will have no direct cost, officials said in a news release.

The hazardous waste collection program allows residents to schedule one pickup of hazardous waste annual. Items that can be collected include, among other items:

  • Paint
  • Household chemicals
  • Fertilizers
  • Pesticides
  • Fluorescent lights

Residents enrolled in the program who set a pickup appointment will get a collection kit containing labels and a 30-gallon bag. The bag's maximum capacity is 70 pounds, so residents are encouraged to share the bag with their neighbors in an effort to fill it up.
