Batavia Public School District 101 Addresses Community's Rising COVID-19 Numbers
"We take social distancing, mask wearing, and hygiene seriously at school, and our efforts appear to be working in the school setting."
Dear BPS101 Families-
The COVID numbers in our county and in the town of Batavia are rising. We are working in conjunction with the health department to monitor the local spread of COVID-19 and the impacts on the schools. At this time, there have been no cases of COVID-19 transmission at our schools. Our mitigation strategies are working, but, of course, we are monitoring the situation closely and making decisions based on our local conditions. We can pivot quickly if needed.

School transmission is an important metric in our decision making. We take social distancing, mask wearing, and hygiene seriously at school, and our efforts appear to be working in the school setting.
If we want to continue to offer in-person learning for our students, we need to take our mitigation strategies seriously. When there is a positive COVID case in our schools, our nurses complete contact tracing to determine if any others need to be quarantined due to their proximity to the positive COVID person. Some of the lessons learned from contact tracing include:
Only attend social events and other activities outside of school that honor social distancing and/or mask wearing.
Be honest in the daily screener.
Wear masks when carpooling and open the windows when possible.

Help us keep students in our schools by practicing positive behaviors outside of school. Please commit to our Bulldog Mantra: Good Hygiene, Social Distancing, and Face Covering.
Be well,
