Batavia Schools Lay Out Plan To Bring Students Back To Class
Batavia high school students are set to return Oct. 19 for in-person learning, with Rotolo Middle School to reopen Nov. 16.

BATAVIA, IL — A week after telling families of their intent to bring middle and high schools back for in-person learning amid the coronavirus pandemic, officials from Batavia Public School District 101 outlined some of the plan’s major details.
Officials sent a letter telling parents that they are hoping to reopen Batavia High School to students starting Oct. 19, with Rotolo Middle School to reopen Nov. 16.

High schoolers who initially opted for in-person learning when officials gave families a choice will attend in-person classes for five hours a day, starting at 7:35 a.m., according to a report by the Kane County Chronicle.
High school students will be given lunches to take home at 12:35 p.m., and they will have until 2:30 p.m. to complete virtual assignments, the report states.

IDPH To Close Coronavirus Testing Site At Chicago Premium Outlets
Though Rotolo Middle School is expected to start using its hybrid learning model in mid-November, some students could return in October as the school works to gradually welcome back students, the report states.
Rotolo’s school day will run from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. with a lunch period, the Chronicle reports.
The district is now searching for additional substitute teachers and support staff to ensure it can implement its return-to-school plan in the coming months, the report states.
