Batavia Sells Rain Barrels To Encourage Water Conservation

The city will also hold a presentation about rain barrels and rain gardens on April 11.

BATAVIA, IL — Before April showers are in full swing, Batavia residents can get a head start on water conservation by investing in a rain barrel. The city is selling rain barrels online through April 24 for its 8th Annual Rain Barrel Sale.

The 55-gallon rain barrels are maid from recycled food grade plastic and are available in a variety of colors, according to the city's website. Each barrel order comes complete with a spigot, a garden hose, and a screw-on lid with a protective screen to keep out debris.

Batavia residents can order a barrel and arrange for either pickup ($60) or delivery ($65). Pickup orders will be available on April 28 at Clark Island Skate Park between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Home delivery orders will arrive after April 28, according to the website.

Visit the city's website to be place a rain barrel order through April 24. If you miss the deadline, you can order a rain barrel any time via the Conservation Foundation.
