Batavia Triathlon Road Closures Expected This Weekend
The city of Batavia is letting the public know that they should expect delays on area roadways on the morning of June 9.
BATAVIA, IL --City officials are letting area residents know that several roadways will be closed this weekend for the 2019 Batavia Triathlon. The following intersections will have temporary road blocks during the race, which begins at 6:30 a.m. on June 9 and finishes up at about 10 a.m.: Route 31 and First Street, First Street and South Van Nortwick Avenue, West Wilson Street and Van Nortwick Avenue, West Wilson Street and Randall Road, Wilson Street and Deerpath Road, Deerpath Road and McKee Street, McKee Street and Wenmoth Road and Main Street. The race will continue westbound on Main Street to Bliss Road and out of the city limits, according to a news release.
The triathlon includes a 14-mile bike ride and 4-mile run. The race is a "open road” event, which means participants share the roadway with vehicles.
Increased bicycle traffic is expected on the following roads between 6:30 and 9 a.m.: Route 31, First Street, West Wilson Street, Randall Road, Deerpath Road, McKee Street, Wenmoth Road, Main Street, Bliss Road, Seavey Road and Nelson Lake Road.

The event will end with runners finishing the race on the Fox River Trail system at the Batavia VFW, 645 S. River St.
Drivers are urged to adjust their travel plans accordingly on Sunday morning.
