Batavia Voters To Elect City, School Leaders Tuesday
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

BATAVIA, IL — Election Day is upon us yet again in Batavia. Polling locations in Kane County will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. If you're in line by 7 p.m., you will be able to vote no matter how long the line is, election officials say.
Batavia voters will weigh in on a number of contested races Tuesday, including several contests for seats on the City Council and District 101 school board.
BATAVIA CITY OFFICES
Mayor Jeffery Schielke is expected to extend his tenure as one of the country's longest-serving mayors, as he is running unopposed for an 11th term. He was first elected in 1981.

Kate Garrett is also running unopposed to be Batavia's clerk, while there are no declared candidates in the race for city treasurer.
There are contested races in two wards for seats on the Batavia City Council.

Shaunak Dave is challenging incumbent Nicholas Cerone to represent Batavia's 6th Ward on the council, while Sarah Vogelsinger and Robin Barraza are vying to represent the 7th Ward.
Five other City Council candidates do not face opposition in their wards: Jennifer Baerren (1st Ward), Leah Leman (2nd Ward), George Ajazi (3rd Ward), Tony Malay (4th Ward) and Mark Uher (5th Ward). Baerren, Malay and Uher are incumbents.
Christopher Sofia also faces no opponent in his campaign to fill an unexpired council term in the city's 1st Ward.
BATAVIA TOWNSHIP OFFICES
The "Batavia Township 2021" slate has put forward eight incumbents for re-election to township offices. None of the candidates face competition for their seats.
Barring a successful write-in campaign, the township's administration will remain the same, with Leigh Tracy as supervisor, Penelope Tracy as clerk, Tammy Kavanaugh as assessor and Christopher Long as highway commissioner.
Incumbent Batavia Township Trustees Walter Donat, Tom Sharp, Troy Tousana and John West are also expected to keep their seats.
PARK AND LIBRARY DISTRICTS
There are two uncontested races for seats on the Batavia Park District Board of Commissioners.
John Tilmon is seeking a six-year term, and Molly Connolly running to fill an unexpired term on the board. Both are incumbents.
Four candidates are running for four seats on the Batavia Board of Library Trustees: Marianne Fasano, Jennifer Culotta, Christy Ford and Kathryn Hubbard. Culotta is an incumbent.
BATAVIA DISTRICT 101 BOARD OF EDUCATION
Four seats are up for grabs on the Batavia District 101 school board. Incumbents Craig Meadows and Susan Locke are seeking re-election, while Aaron Kilburg and Ronald "RJ" Mathis are seeking their first terms on the board.
REGIONAL RACES
Three races for the Kane County Regional Board of School Trustees also appear on Batavia-area ballots, but only one has a declared candidate. Winfried Cordell Cooper Jr. is running for a six-year term on the board.
Four candidates are running for two open seats on the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees: Rebecca Oliver, Patrick Kelsey, Giselle Gonzalez and Sandra Gonzalez. Oliver and Kelsey are incumbents.
