Batavia Woman Charged With Filing False Report After Allegedly Cutting Herself

The woman approached police in St. Charles with injuries to her face, right arm, and abdomen

Taylor Granato, a 26-year-old from Batavia, has been charged with filing a false crime report, according to a St. Charles Police press release.

On Sunday, just after 2 a.m., Granato approached police officers on patrol in downtown St. Charles. She was covered in blood and, she had injuries to her face, right arm, and abdomen. Officers provided medical aid and Granato was brought to Delnor-Community Hospital. None of her injuries were considered life threatening.

Granato told police that she was attacked by two people in a nearby parking lot.

Investigators did not find any blood in the parking lot where Granato claimed the crime happened. There was blood on the passenger seat of Granato's car, and they found a bloody knife in the glove box. Police determined that Granato's wounds were self-inflicted.

Granato later turned herself into the police station, and she was released after posting $100 cash bond. Her court date on February 8.
