Cooling Center Offered At Batavia City Hall During Extreme Heat
The heat will be extremely dangerous for the elderly, children, and those with medical conditions.

BATAVIA, IL — With heat indices expected to surge above 110 degrees heading into the weekend, the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch in and around Batavia through June 30. The heat wave has prompted city officials to open up Batavia City Hall as a cooling center for those who don't have access to relief from the intense heat.
The cooling center, located at 100 N. Island Ave. will be open for 24 hours to accommodate "the elderly, families with small children, and other vulnerable residents," city officials said online.
Officials warn that the extreme heat and humidity can be dangerous and even deadly for children, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or other conditions. Pass this information on to those in need and be sure to check up on neighbors, friends, and family who may be at risk.
