Coroner IDs Man Killed In Lawn Mower Accident In Batavia

The man was working for a landscaping company Monday when he became trapped under his lawn mower in a Batavia pond.

BATAVIA, IL — The Kane County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the man who died earlier this week after being trapped under a lawn mower in a pond in Batavia.

Alberto Amaro, 56, of West Chicago, was working for the Waldschmidt and Associates landscaping company Monday morning in the 900 block of Moorehead Drive when his lawn mower went into the pond, officials have said.

He was pulled to land by police, paramedics and his co-workers, but it is unclear exactly how long he was underwater, police said. He died Monday at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, according to police.
