Like United Way organizations across the country, Batavia United Way (BUW) has set up a community fund dedicated to ensuring all children, families, individuals, and senior citizens at risk have the resources they need to weather the COVID-19 storm. This fund is dedicated to Batavians and will provide added support to the agencies throughout the Fox Valley area that we are leaning on during this crisis. These agencies are experts in their fields and committed to their missions. For example, this week alone, 23 Batavia senior citizens signed up for Meals on Wheels through Kane Senior Council for the first time as they shelter at home. Batavia United Way will help offset this new enrollment.

Aside from agency support, this fund will help expand the reach of our crisis induced “pop up” programs such as the Breakfast Food Drive or the Senior Food Drive. Just this week, we were able to provide over 100 bags of groceries directly into the hands of seniors and families affected by COVID19. This is only possible because of the generous response to our community food drives. BUW will continue to supplement the amazing effort already being done by the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, our community, and BPS 101. We will continue to adjust efforts as needs arise. If you are in a position to contribute, you can visit www.bataviaunitedway.org to donate. Remember that 100% of your gift to Batavia United Way will be used for COVID-19 relief efforts in our local community. Thank you for your generosity.
