Four Seniors Earn Inspire Scholarships From Batavia Chamber

BATAVIA, IL — Four Batavia High School soon-to-be graduates were recognized by the Batavia Chamber of Commerce with the organization’s first Inspire Scholarships. Aidan Perrault, Priya Dave, Logan Bain and Haley Skupa will each receive $750 toward their college education, according to a news release.

The four categories for the scholarships — Inspiring Entrepreneurship, Inspiring Women in Business, Inspiring Career & Technical Achievers, and Inspiring Contributors to a Batavia Chamber Business — represent the makeup of the chamber’s membership, the release states.

Aidan Perrault, who earned the chamber’s entrepreneurial scholarship, is set to attend Illinois State University to study music education. The Inspiring Entrepreneurship scholarship is meant to reward a student who has interest in starting a business and encourage them to consider Batavia, the release states. Perrault showed his entrepreneurial mind by saving money from odd jobs to purchase a candy and gumball machine.

Priya Dave earned the Inspiring Women in Business scholarship, given to a high school student interested in pursuing an education and career in business. Dave is set to attend Northwestern University in the fall with a double major in business and biomedical engineering

Logan Bain won the Inspiring Career & Technical Achievers scholarship, given to a graduating student interested in a trade or career in manufacturing. Bain plans to earn his associate’s degree at Waubonsee Community College before transferring to a four-year university, the release states. He gained experience on his journey to becoming a firefighter or paramedic with a dual-credit fire science program with Batavia High School and WCC via the Fox Valley Career Center, the release states.

Haley Skupa, who will attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham to study nursing, earned the chamber’s Inspiring Contributors to a Batavia Chamber Business scholarship.

“We sincerely wish our scholarship winners, along with all the top-notch applicants, much success as they continue their educational journey,” said Margaret Perreault, president and CEO of Batavia Chamber of Commerce. “Ending their high school career during a pandemic means many worthwhile accomplishments aren’t receiving the normal fanfare, but they are no less important. Congratulations to all.”
