Half Marathon To Impact Traffic In Batavia
Officials say Sunday's half marathon will slow traffic on the city's west side.

BATAVIA, IL — Batavia's 2018 Half Marathon will take place Sunday morning, bringing with "significant delays," according to a press release from the city. Officials say the bulk of the traffic delays will be on Batavia's west side starting at 7 a.m.
The half marathon is what's known as an "open road" event because streets will be open to traffic with the exception of "temporary traffic interruptions" as runners race through the 13.1-mile course, city officials said. The race will start in downtown Batavia's business district and make its way through some of the city's main roads before wrapping up at the VFW on 645 S. River St.
Motorists are advised to keep an eye out for spectators and runners throughout the duration of the race. Race volunteers and public safety personnel will be at the following intersections to stop traffic when necessary.
