Kane County Files Paperwork to Seize Dogs

The dogs were found in a locked van earlier in April and three died before being rescued by police.

On April 2, Batavia police found a number of dogs inside a van in a parking lot in the 100 block of N. Island Avenue. Two were already dead and a third died on the way to an animal hospital.

The dogs belonged to Julia A. Brungard-Giordano, 47, of the 200 block of N. Island Avenue in Batavia. She was arrested on April 2 on four felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and four misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.

Now, officials are trying to seize the dogs.
