Knife Wielding Suspect Located, Charged By Batavia Police

BATAVIA, IL—A Batavia man, who police said threatened two people with a knife Tuesday morning, has been identified and charged with aggravated assault.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 10:39 a.m. Tuesday when Batavia police were called to the 100 block of Shumway Avenue for a report of a man wielding a knife. Two construction workers told police that a man confronted them, yelling and threatening them with the weapon.

The suspect then got on his bicycle and fled southbound, the workers said, but not before they were able to snap a couple pictures of the man to give to police.

Later that day, a woman reported being screamed at by a man who was riding on the bike path in the 1300 block of South River Street. That man was similarly described as the suspect involved in the other incident, Batavia police said.

Using pictures and descriptions taken by the construction workers, Batavia police asked for the public’s help in finding the man. They noted him as armed and dangerous.

On Wednesday, Hayden Hogan, 26, of Batavia, was identified, taken into custody and charged with two counts of misdemeanor aggravated assault.

The Batavia Police Department said it appreciates the public’s help in locating Hogan.
