Low-Income Housing Considered for Campana Building
The Batavia City Council will consider the $30 million project during a meeting next week.

BATAVIA, IL - The Campana building in Batavia, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, could soon become home to income-restricted apartments. Evergreen Real Estate Group is proposing the $30 million project that will include 80 apartments -- 64 of which are classified as "affordable" housing, according to the Daily Herald. The Batavia City Council is slated to review the plan next week.
The project has received low-incoming house tax credits to help pay for the apartments, according to the newspaper. Those tax credits are for projects housing families who earn no more than 60 percent of the median household income, which in Kane County will mean a four-person family with an income of $47,400 would qualify for the apartments.
