111th Street To Close At Sacramento For Rail Work
A CSX railroad project that has already closed 95th Street and 103rd Street this summer will move the work along to 111th.

CHICAGO, IL — A CSX railroad project that's caused traffic congestion in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood and nearby in Evergreen Park for the last few weeks will continue into July. Work is planned at the rail crossing on 111th Street and Sacramento Avenue beginning on Monday, June 25. Signs posted in the area indicate the closure is expected to last until Friday, July 6.
During this two-week period, 111th Street will not be a thoroughfare between Kedzie and Western avenues and those who use it regularly should find other options. The rail work will block traffic on 111th Street at Sacramento and the closure could actually be set a few streets away.
While specific preferred detour routes have not yet been set, it may be best for eastbound traffic on 111th Street to use either 115th Street or 103rd Street, which is expected to be opened again by the time 111th closes.

Local traffic in Mount Greenwood could navigate through 109th or 107th streets.
For those heading westbound on 111th Street, use Western Avenue to find 115th or 103rd. Local traffic in West Beverly should still be allowed to use California Avenue and other streets in the neighborhood.

The upcoming closure on 111th is the third major thoroughfare in the area to be closed by CSX this summer. Work at the rail crossing on 103rd and Sacramento currently has 103rd Street closed in a project that's expected to be complete by the end of the day on Friday, June 22.
A few weeks ago, it was rail work at the crossing on 95th Street in Evergreen Park that had traffic blocking up all other east-west streets in the area.
