8 Fun Things To Do In The Beverly Area Over Father's Day Weekend

CHICAGO - Coming in mid-June, Father's Day weekend is always the perfect time of year to take in summer fun. In and near our neighborhood (Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park all rolled in to one), there are a number of great options to bring dad out for some fun. You won't have to leave the area (we are including Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park and Alsip, too) for these events all happening this weekend.

Most Holy Redeemer Carnival: Parish carnival season is in full swing, so if you missed the fun at St. Catherine of Alexandria last weekend, here's another chance. Beginning Wednesday, the carnival at the Evergreen Park parish features five fabulous days of food, music, big rides, games, raffles and fun. Live Like John Softball Tournament: The annual Live Like John Softball Tournament, held yearly in memory of neighborhood resident John McNicholas who died of a brain tumor eight years ago at age 15, is Saturday at St. Rita of Cascia High School. Black Sox Art Exhibit At The B.A.C.: Is dad a history buff or a White Sox fan? If you're from this area, the answer is likely yes. Well here's an art exhibit he's sure to be interested in. Artist Thom Ross brings to life the 1919 scandal in which eight members of the Chicago White Sox were accused of conspiring to lose the World Series on purpose for financial gain. 95th Street Farmers Market: This weekly event is a good way to get dad out and about early on Sunday. A number of vendors are lined up again for the farmers market in the parking lot at 95th and Longwood.
