Auction At Open Outcry Will Help Fund Beverly Art Walk
Up for bid items include ones donated and autographed by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and members of R.E.M.

CHICAGO — Lovers of the Beverly Art Walk can help keep a vibrant music scene at the popular early fall event by supporting an auction planned for Wednesday, July 17 at the Open Outcry Brewing Company, 10934 S. Western Ave. Chris Castaneda, music coordinator for the Beverly Area Arts Alliance, says five items will be available via an auction, including ones donated by venerated musicians such as Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, members of R.E.M. and Sleater-Kinney and Bob Mould.
Castaneda says he became connected to the musicians who are donating the items when he organized a benefit for McCaughey, who toured with R.E.M. in the 1990's, last year.
"Scott is well-respected among local musicians here," Castaneda said.

Since Castaneda became the Alliance's music coordinator, he says it has been a priority of his to ensure that at least the local musicians who take part in the Art Walk are paid.
"When it started (the Art Walk), musicians would have to donate their time to be there. But now there's an effort to get them at least a few bucks for their time," he said.

The money made from the auction will officially support the 2019 Beverly Art Walk Music Fund, which does just that.
The auction will run from 7-9 p.m. on the 17th. Local band "The New Deal" will perform.
This year's Beverly Art Walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon until 6 p.m. at locations throughout Beverly and Morgan Park.
