CHICAGO — All first responders are invited to a 9/11 Remembrance and Uniformed First Responders Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Beverly Bank & Trust, 10258 S. Western Ave. when showing up in uniform. The breakfast honoring police officers, firefighters and military members will coincide with the neighborhood's 9/11 ceremony on the corner of 103rd and Western on the bank's property.

Gena Poulos, assistant vice president of Beverly Bank, has organized the flag lowering ceremony every year on 9/11 since the 10th anniversary in 2011. She said the crowd gets bigger every year, surpassing 50 people who showed up last year.

This year the Evergreen Park American Legion will lead the ceremony, which will take place at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
