CHICAGO — A few hundred Black Lives Matter supporters gathered at Barnard Park at 105th and Longwood in Beverly Sunday afternoon before marching along Longwood Drive, to Western Avenue and on other streets in the 19th Ward neighborhoods on Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park.
A flyer shared online showed four messages the group marching promotes: "Take CPD out of CPS," "Defund police," "Hold officers accountable" and "Free our protestors."
A number of the chants made by the group were of an anti-police nature. Police officers were scattered along Longwood, but more were on Western Avenue at the time as the rally reached that thoroughfare later in the day.
