Boil Order Lifted For Beverly, Morgan Park And Evergreen Park

The Chicago Department of Water Management has verified that water is safe to drink again after analyzing microbiological samples.

CHICAGO — A precautionary boil order that affected thousands of buildings on the city’s Southeast Side and some suburbs has been lifted. Microbiological samples analyzed by the Chicago water department’s water purification laboratories.

On Thursday morning, an incident at the Roseland Pumping Station knocked out water service for an hour. While service was quickly restored, water pressure plummeted, potentially allowing contaminants to enter the water distribution system. ComEd was in the area doing maintenance, but electrical service at the pumping station never went offline.

The boil order has been lifted for the area as far west as Albany Avenue on the west north of 119th Street and west of I-57 to southwest Beverly Avenue, including some buildings along California Avenue between 99th and 102nd Streets in Evergreen Park.
