Chicago Ag Students To Prepare 300 Meals For 19th Ward Seniors

Online reservations for Thanksgiving-style, individually packaged meals start Nov. 20 for seniors age 65 and older living in the 19th Ward.

CHICAGO — Students from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences will provide 300 free, individually packaged Thanksgiving-style meals to seniors age 65 and older living in the 19th Ward. The no-contact delivery will be made after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 by community volunteers. Meals will arrive cold and include re-heating instructions.

Meal requests will be taken on a first come, first served basis starting at noon Friday, Nov. 20 at www.the19thward.com. Reservations will NOT be accepted by phone, so if you have a neighbor or family member that could benefit, help them out by making an online reservation. Orders are limited to one per household with a maximum of two per household. Unfortunately, meals cannot be delivered this year

The food is being prepared by students and chefs from Americanos, Horse Thief Hollow, Loquacious Catering and Smith Village. This effort is generously co-sponsored by Sen. Bill Cunningham (18th), State Rep. Fran Hurley (35th) and the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.
