College Application Boot Camp Promises To Relieve Student Stress

Fitzgerald Prep, a small test-preparation business based in Beverly, is now accepting registrations for its College Application Boot Camp.

BEVERLY-MT. GREENWOOD, IL — "The first step is always the hardest." Beginning the daunting task of college applications is stressful on both students and parents. That's why a local test prep business has started offering a three-week 'boot camp' to guide students through the process.

This year's College Application Boot Camp will run from August 1st to August 15th, meeting on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the Evergreen Park Public Library.


Amy Fitzgerald, owner and instructor of Fitzgerald Prep, has witnessed firsthand how completely overwhelmed students become during this process. Often times, she says, students without a solid strategy on how to tackle college applications become paralyzed with fear which leaves to unnecessary stress and jeopardizes their chances of acceptance into their top choices.

The College Application Boot Camp will help students focus on college applications by initiating that first step and mentoring students as they dive into the application process. By getting a head start, students gain a strong advantage in the ever so competitive admissions process.

Throughout the course of Fitzgerald Prep's three-week College application boot camp, students will:

  • Complete The Common Application:

Students will work one-on-one and in small groups to complete the entire Common Application.

  • Brainstorm & Write Their College Essay:

Through a series of meditations and self-discovery exercises, students will brainstorm potential material for essays. With Amy's assistance, students will choose one of the prompts. Over the course of several days, students will outline and write a full essay.

  • Submit Writing to Professional Editors:

Essays will be critiqued and edited by a team of professional writers and editors.

  • Create Activity and Achievements Inventory:

Create and complete an extracurricular activity and awards worksheet.

  • Develop an Application Strategy:

Customize application plans to ensure a stress-free application period and to optimize on college acceptances.


The class will meet on Thursdays, 7:00 to 8:30pm at the Evergreen Park Public Library. Students will have at-home access to Fitzgerald Prep's online resource library and essay editing team.
Students must register by July 28th to receive the early bird discount rate ($300.00).
