Event Of The Year Poll In Beverly, Mt. Greenwood, Morgan Park

CHICAGO — Every month of the year, residents of the Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood neighborhoods are blessed with an event that brings out the community. Back in May, we asked about which event of the year is the best since three big ones listed below occur on consecutive weeks that month.

We've taken some suggestions and now offer this 8-event, bracket-style game to find the favorite among neighborhood residents and visitors. The numbers before the event indicate the event's seed and the first-round match-ups are set here.

• 1. South Side Irish Parade vs. 8. Ginger Rugai's Y-Me Softball Tournament

- The South Side Irish Parade is held on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day and has become an event that's garnered worldwide attention. The Y-Me Softball Tournament is held yearly at Mt. Greenwood Park in August in support of cancer survivors.

• 4. BAPA Home Tour vs. 5. Papa Hops 16'' Softball Tournament

- Architecture fans and lovers of great homes consistently make the Beverly Area Planning Association's Home Tour a destination every May. The Papa Hops 16'' Softball Tournament brings thousands of people to Kennedy Park on a Friday night in mid-July.

• 3. Beverly Breast Cancer Walk vs. 6. Ridge Run / Memorial Day Parade

- Thousands walk the streets of Beverly and Morgan Park in honor of breast cancer survivors and victims on the morning of every Mother's Day. The Ridge Run is the neighborhood's most popular race and is followed by a parade down Longwood Drive in honor of the county's fallen military heroes.

• 2. Beverly Art Walk vs. 7. Beverly Hills Cycling Classic / Bikes & Brews

- The neighborhood becomes an art haven on a Saturday in the early fall with the Beverly Art Walk, which continues to grow in its 6th year. The bike race has become a more popular mid-summer tradition in the neighborhood every year.
