The Frunchroom kicks off Beverly Art Walk Week on Tuesday
South Side storytelling series celebrates art and community

The Frunchroom, the live storytelling series about the South Side of Chicago that makes its home in Beverly/Morgan Park returns this month as part of the annual Beverly Art Walk Week.
The next show will be at 730pm on Tuesday, September 17th at Beverly Arts Center (2407 W 111th St, Chicago). A $5 donation to benefit the Beverly Area Arts Alliance is requested.
Scheduled to appear at The Frunchroom’s September show are: architecture critic and author (“Southern Exposure”) Lee Bey; former Chicago Sun-Times editor Don Hayner; Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights program coordinator Evelyn Venegas; lawyer and storyteller Karen Clanton; and feminist writer/director of UIC’s Latinx in Science office, L@S GANAS.

“The Frunchroom began as an outgrowth of the Art Walk,” said Frunchroom host and co-producer Scott Smith. “Every year, the organizers show how art and music create community in our neighborhood.”
Arrive early for The Frunchroom to preview two Beverly Art Walk exhibitions from St. Xavier University and the Beverly Arts Center's Drawn to Humor: National Cartoonist Society.

The 6th Annual Beverly Art Walk will be Saturday, September 21st, from Noon to 6pm and will showcase more than 150 artists in nearly 50 venues across Beverly/Morgan Park. Featured locations include a 95th Street celebration, the Uprising Handmade Market, Children's Park at Clissold Elementary, music main stage at the Castle, Noshin' on 99th - a food fest featuring six local favs, and the historic Rotary and Ingersoll-Blackwelder houses.
The unique mix of art, cocktails and stories at The Frunchroom is sponsored by The Beverly Arts Center. The event continues to be produced as a showcase for original written work and presented in partnership with The Beverly Area Arts Alliance, the organization responsible for local arts events like the Uprising Craft Market and Local Art on Tap.
The Frunchroom has played to packed houses since it began in April 2015. Previous readers include local residents and business owners; TV, radio, and podcast hosts, writers, teachers, poets, politicians and artists.
