Tourville was a Sgt. in the United States Marine Corp. His impact in Mount Greenwood is long lasting.

"He's a guy who taught boys that you don't walk into a building with your hat on," Maureen Stanton, a neighborhood native who spent many summers at the park, remembers. "He loved all the kids."

Just two months ago, Stanton began an effort to have a plaque made at the park in honor of Tourville and the late Harriet Brown, who led many of the girls organizations at the park. She said recently the project is moving forward.

Tourville was a star football player at Leo High School in the 1940's and went on to play at the University of Colorado. He's a member of the Leo Hall-of-Fame, longtime Chicago Park District supervisor and in 1970 was given a merit award by the Park District for saving the life of an infant.
