GoFundMe Set Up For 5-Year-Old Beau Dowling's Second Cancer Fight

Beau's Battle Buddies GoFundMe has been activated to support the Dowling family as the Beverly boy faces a second cancer fight.

CHICAGO — An online fundraiser has been established for Beau Dowling. The 5-year-old Beverly boy has already endured an extremely intense treatment course fighting high risk neuroblastoma. and is now facing a second cancer fight.

Beau's mom, Meg Butler Dowling, announced on the Beau’s Battle Buddies Facebook page that her son was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, but doctors have assured Meg and her husband, Jimmy, that it is curable. Beau is scheduled for surgery later this month.

To help the Dowling family, which counts seven children, Becky Rusch has established a GoFundMe fundraiser, which as of Wednesday raised over $28,000 to help his parents with Beau’s medical costs.

Meg has openly shared her son’s cancer journey on Facebook, where the community has rallied to support Beau and his family. Meg and Jimmy are not used to being on the receiving end of a fundraiser after supporting numerous causes, including the Kevin Dowling Golf Outing and Toy Drive, and the Blainey Butler Scholarship Fund and Blainey Butler Gives Back Foundation, which have given multiple high school scholarships and aids families who have experienced unforeseen circumstances.
