Golf Outing For Next Year's South Side Irish Parade Is On

CHICAGO — The "Halfway to Parade Day" golf outing, which organizers have called "crucial" in the fundraising for the annual South Side Irish Parade, is set to go in 2020 with a number of social distancing measures in place.

The outing will be held on Monday, Sept. 21 at the Ridge Country Club, with all proceeds helping raise money for the 2021 South Side Irish Parade. The 2020 parade was canceled just days before it was set to step off from 103rd and Western due to the coronavirus.

“This year’s golf outing will be smaller than years past as we value the safety of our communities above all else,” South Side Irish Parade Committee Member Don Larisey said. “We will abide by all State of Illinois Phase 4 restrictions while continuing to monitor the situation and make changes as necessary."

Due to the coronavirus, this year's golf outing will be offered to a limited number of golfers, with tee times only slated for 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Golfers will be required to wear masks during check-in and whenever social distancing is not possible, according to a news release from the parade committee. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available to all golfers.

The annual golf outing returned to the Beverly neighborhood in 2019 after spending a few years at Gleneagles Country Club in Lemont.

Tickets, available here, are $200 per person and include golf, beverages and lunch.
