Metra Adds Service At 103rd Street, 111th Street For Parade Day
Alcohol will be banned from all Metra Rock Island trains on the day of the South Side Irish Parade.

CHICAGO – Metra announced Monday that it will provide additional services this weekend for both the downtown St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, March 16 and the South Side Irish Parade set to roll down Western Avenue on Sunday, March 17. On Sunday, more Rock Island line trains will be added to the 103rd Street and 111th Street stops in Beverly/Morgan Park to accommodate South Side Irish parade-goers.
Due to the expected high ridership this weekend, Metra has urged anyone planning to take the train the either or both parades to buy tickets in advance.
“Riders know the value of taking Metra to city events and that’s why we’re happy to provide extra service,” said Metra CEO/Executive Director Jim Derwinski. “Our weekend pass and family fares make Metra the most affordable, smart and safe choice for anyone planning to go to the parades and celebrate one of Chicago’s favorite holidays.”
