Nicky's of Beverly Rolls Out Vinyl Thursdays on Patio

Beverly Records spins rare vinyl, offers advice for record beginners, waxes eloquently on the nuances of analog v digital music.

Nicky’s of Beverly kicks off its summer record series - Vinyl Thursday - as the hip new restaurant and Beverly Records “come together” in this Summer of ’21.

Beginning with “Vinyl 101” this week and continuing with “Electric Blues” next week, June 10th, DJ John Dreznes is back with a pop-up version of Beverly Records every Thursday (weather permitting) from 6 until 9 p.m.

The popular DJ complemented the January 2nd ribbon cutting when Paul Kostopanagiotou opened his new location at 105th & Western with his continuing pledge to serve great food with exemplary service, along with a side of house music from his own vinyl goldmine.

Nicky’s of Beverly will showcase its new craft beer offerings on Thursdays on the patio designated for guests 21 years and older. Reservations are encouraged.

“Vinyl 101” is a logical place to drop the needle on fresh wax.

“The only obstacle holding back some music enthusiasts from embracing the superior analog sound has been the ‘how-to’ get started,” said Dreznes.

“We will address how to begin, collecting records, taking care of them and even how to operate a turntable. We’ll also talk about why we love playing records.”

Whether novices are dusting off a vintage turntable or purchasing a record player at an estate sale, records are an investment that keeps on giving, according to Dreznes.

The always-accessible Dreznes will answer questions, take requests, and offer backdrop stories that bring the music and songs into deeper context.

Vinyl Thursday is an outgrowth of the popular lunchtime feature in which select artists and genres are showcased.

Kostopanagiotou developed deep roots in Beverly when he was located at 103rd & Western and built his reputation as a savvy businessman who loves great food, music and, most especially, happy customers.

“Great food and music are the stuff of summer,” said Kostopanagiotou. “It’s just more fun. And we can all use a little fun these days.”
