CHICAGO — Our 16-pizzeria bracket-style showdown to find the favorite pizza of residents in the Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park neighborhood this year is over and voters on Twitter have selected Palermo's as their favorite. Palermo's has locations on 95th Street in Oak Lawn and on 63rd Street in Chicago.

Palermo's won the tournament as the No. 3 seed out of 16 selected for the showdown. Voting in the first and second rounds was held last week and the semifinals and championship held this week. En route to their championship, Palermo's won head-to-head battles with No. 14 Wiseguys, No. 11 S&T Provisions pizza set ups, No. 2 Rosangela's and No. 1 Milano's.

The championship match-up, held from 2:30 p.m. Thursday to 2:30 p.m. Friday on the @BeverlyMTGPatch Twitter page saw Palermo's get 65% of the vote to 35% for Milano's.

Palermo's won the tournament in their first appearance. In our inaugural event in 2018, only pizzerias located within the boundaries of Chicago's 19th Ward were eligible. Barraco's won that year by defeating Fox's in the final.

Next year, we may increase the size of the bracket from 16 to 32 pizzerias, and open voting to the rest of the South Side and south suburbs instead of just basing it in Beverly-Mt. Greenwood.
