MERRIONETTE PARK, IL — The annual South Side Irish Parade "Pre-Parade Fundraiser" is coming up this weekend. The yearly late February party held to help fund the iconic parade down Western Avenue will be from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 115 Bourbon Street.
"The event is held every year to help offset the increased costs of operating this great parade that helps keep the Parade a family friendly celebration," Jim Smith, chair of the South Side Irish Parade committee, said.
Entertainment planned for the fundraiser will include The Larkin and Moran Brothers, Avondale Ramblers, Traditional Irish Music with Pat Finnegan and Friends and The Stock Yard Kitty Band.

In honoring this year's parade Grand Marshal, Catholic elementary school teachers, fundraiser organizers are encouraging attendees to wear gear associated with their favorite Catholic elementary school in the area. The "School Colors Challenge" will trace the number of attendees wearing spirit wear for each school and award a prize, courtesy of the South Side Irish Parade committee, to the faculty and staff of the winning school. Any questions on the contest should be emailed to info@southsideorishparade.org.
