Quarterfinals Set In South Side Pizza Showdown: Vote Now
Eight pizzerias have been eliminated while another eight move on to the South Side Pizza Showdown quarterfinals.
CHICAGO — The results are in from the first round of the 2019 Beverly-Mt. Greenwood Patch South Side Pizza Showdown, and things are starting to get really interesting. We've already seen one upset, and could see a few more in the upcoming rounds as intriguing match-ups are upon us.

Quarterfinal (Elite 8) match-ups in this bracket-style tournament that seeks to find the favorite pizza for residents of Chicago's Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park neighborhoods are No. 1 seed Milano's vs. No. 8 Nino's, No. 2 Rosangela's vs. No. 7 Vito & Nick's, No. 3 Palermos vs. No. 11 S&T Provisions pizza setups and No. 4 Fox's vs. No. 5 Barraco's.

The Fox's vs. Barraco's match-up is a rematch of last year's championship, which Barraco's won.

Losing in the first round of 16 this year were No. 6 Tata's, No. 9 Russo's, No. 10 Pizzeria Depot, No. 12 Beggars, No. 13 Chuck's, No. 14 Wiseguys, No. 15 Open Outcry Brewing Company and No. 16 Rosati's.
Last year, only pizza places located within the 19th Ward boundaries of Chicago were allowed in the tournament. This year, it's any pizza place loved by residents of the ward. So welcome again the likes of Rosangela's (Evergreen Park), Palermos (Oak Lawn), Vito & Nick's (Chicago - Ashburn) and Nino's (Alsip), all still in the tournament during this quarterfinal round.
Voting in the quarterfinals began around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and will be open for 24 hours with match-ups on the @BeverlyMTGPatch Twitter account. You must have a Twitter account to vote. The match-ups are embedded here.
