Sal's Pizza Opens On Pulaski In Mt. Greenwood

CHICAGO (MT. GREENWOOD) — There's another option for pizza — and plenty of other good food — in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood. Sal's Pizza, just north of 107th and Pulaski, opened for the first time on Monday.

Tania Flores is the daughter of the owners, Salvador and Raquel Flores. She says it has been her parents' longtime goal to open up a business and they are both excited to bring Sal's Pizza to the neighborhood.

"One day my dad was driving around and saw the location. He asked about it and it all kind of just fell into place pretty quickly," Tania said.

Sal's Pizza occupies a storefront that most recently was home to "La Dona Y La Jefa" Mexican restaurant. Sal's will also serve Mexican food, in addition to pizza, sandwiches, wings and other items, Tania said.

"We have a thin, crispy pizza," she said. "It's really good."

Raquel will serve her fine homemade Mexican food — tacos, quesadillas, tortas and burritos included — while Salvador will lead the cooking of the American fare, Tania said.

"This is the first time my parents are opening a business and they are really excited about it."

Sal's Pizza, 10653 S. Pulaski Road in Mount Greenwood, is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
