SXU Adopts 'Test Blind' Freshman Admission Policy For Fall 2021
Saint Xavier University will not require standardized test scores for freshman applications for most programs in fall 2021.

CHICAGO — Saint Xavier University is suspending standardized testing for the fall 2021 admission. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted standardized test-taking, with restrictions imposed by many states. Due to the continued uncertainty of testing available next fall, SXU will not require standardized test scores for fall freshman applications for most programs.
Saint Xavier’s academic leadership has approved a test-blind admission policy. Admission decisions will be based on applications and transcripts, with some exceptions: SXU’s nursing program is selective and will continue to require test scores for applications. For all other majors, the admission committee reserves the right to request additional materials, including a test score, after initial review of application materials is completed.
“We trust the preparation students are receiving in our area high schools,” Brian Hotzfield said in a news release, the assistant vice president for Enrollment Management, Student Development and Student Success. “Numerous independent research studies show that performance in high school is often a better predictor to success in college than standardized test scores, and our internal research reflects that.”
