Water Main Repair Work Planned On 111th Street For 4 Weeks
Lane closures could occur on the thoroughfare between Western Avenue and Longwood Drive from March 16 until April 10.
CHICAGO (MORGAN PARK) — Water main repair work will occur on 111th Street between Western Avenue and Longwood Drive from March 16 until April 10, but the thoroughfare is not expected to close completely at any point during the four-week span. Plans are for one lane in each direction to be open at all times, according to the 19th Ward Office.
If the street does need at a full closure, it will only be for 7-10 days and there will plenty of warning, the ward office said. A previous version of this article that stated the street will close completely during the entire time was incorrect.
The water main the Chicago Department of Water Management will be replacing dates back to 1910, according to a Beverly Review report. The report states the work will begin installation of 1,934 feet of a 16-inch water main in the area.
