Bad Hunter Announces Re-Opening Date

After a kitchen fire caused the restaurant to close, Bad Hunter is slated to re-open Jan. 31, owners said.

CHICAGO — After being closed for weeks following a kitchen fire, Bad Hunter will reopen at the end of January, the restaurant's owners said. Kitchen staff "acted quickly" when the fire broke out Nov. 20 and everyone was evacuated safely, the Heisler Hospitality restaurant group said. Guests were also evacuated from the neighboring Lone Wolf and Au Cheval.

"We want to say a sincere THANK YOU to our friends, neighbors, and community for the outpouring of love and support," the restaurant group said in an email after the fire. "A very special thank you also to the Chicago Fire Department, for arriving within minutes and acting heroically to save our beautiful restaurant."

The fire began in the grease chute, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Firefighters had to open the roof loft to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
