Barista Competition To Be Held In Logan Square

Barista teams will go head-to-head in Crush the Rush at Caffè Umbria.

CHICAGO, IL — Caffè Umbria has partnered with La Marzocco USA to host a team-based barista competition, dubbed "Crush the Rush!", on Tuesday, August 7 at 7 p.m. The competition is open to the public to attend and admission is free. The event will feature eight teams competing in a head-to-head in a single-elimination tournament, organizers said.

In each round, teams of three people will race to deliver eight perfectly-made café drinks to the judges' table faster than their opponents. The fastest team will move on to the next round. In each round, a new surprise will await the competitors to increase the difficulty, organizers said. At the end of the night, one team will be crowned the champion, and will receive the "Crush the Rush!" trophy and a cash prize of $300.

For spectators, Caffè Umbria's will be open for full service selling traditional Italian espresso and specialty coffee drinks.
